About:

Born in Southampton, England, my passion for travel and adventure took me to live on the Spanish island of Mallorca. For 5 years, I studied and embraced the local culture, language, cuisine, vino and landscape. This magical island opened my eyes to the beauty and simplicity of Mediterranean life, and it was here that I started my career as a professional artist.
I then moving from Mallorca to California and inspired by Napa and Sonoma, I began to paint wine. It was Spanish missionaries who planted the first vineyards with the vitas vinifera vines which are native to the Mediterranean. It was during a very painful season of my life that I painted a series of Champagne paintings. Gold, silver, copper and bronze capture the vibrant beauty of the world’s most celebratory drink. It sparkles with life as its poured. Joyful bubbles rise to a crescendo, then rain down like pieces of silver and gold. Juxtaposed against a dark background, it is reminiscent of the metal refining process and also of the Californian Gold Rush. These paintings are about the beauty and value we can find in life’s hardship, the personal refinement we can experience, and a reminder to celebrate something every day!

Painting with palette knives allows me to apply the paint thickly and to create texture.
My paintings are an extension of my joie de vivre, love of life, capturing the vibrant beauty of life! Cheers!

“In order for the light to shine so brightly, the dark must be present.” Francis Bacon

“Only when we are brave enough to explore the darkness will we discover the infinite power of our light.” Brene Brown
