Lucinda Johnson
Art has always been at the center of my life. When I was very young, I would draw from nature (mainly birds, horses, dogs), becoming familiar with the graceful lines, form and space. Through self-taught studies and workshops with professional artists in a wide-array of mediums, art has always been a way for me to share what I feel and see. You will rarely see me sitting still.
I have explored art through photography, sculpting, welding, ceramics, paint-making, batik, mosaic, stained glass, quilting, watercolor, gouache, acrylics, oils, encaustic, collage, pastels and many other forms. I usually try to envision which medium will best convey what I have in mind for the finished artwork. I especially enjoy using watercolor because of the way I can blend the colors on the paper, how the paint granulates and the transparency of the pigments. Soft pastels are wonderful for adding a unique brilliance and depth to paintings.
