I began as a hiker who loved to paint what I saw. Later I gravitated to relief printmaking where I have discovered a medium that responds to all that captivates me about our natural world here in northern California. I use linoleum to carve each printing layer exploring the colors, patterns and textures found in leaves, trees, plants, clouds and water. Careful planning is required. Often like a long hike in the woods, I wonder if I know where each bend in the trail will take me. As with relief printmaking each cut carries its own risk and reward.
