About:

Jaylyn Hardcastle was born in Salt Lake City, Utah. Ms. Hardcastle settled in the San Fransisco bay Area with her family in 1960. She received encouragement to study art from her artistic parents at Foothill College in Los Altos hills. throughout adult life she has exhibited in Northern California, New England and in Texas art festivals. her works have been shown at Erika’s gallery, Saratoga and Parsonage gallery, Durham, New Hampshire. She is also represented in numerous private collections. As an illustrator she has created designs for labels, greeting cards, art decor and recently “The French Lesson” mug series for La Madeline restaurant chain.

In 2017 Hardcastle was drawn back to one of her favorite towns in California…Auburn. fascinated with the spirit and essence of the old architecture, a singular style emerged. portraits of this and cities nearby have begun to appear on canvas brimming with color and energy. this body of work expresses an impression of life’s dance in local architecture.

I have deep feelings toward the past local architecture. My paintings are colorful and feature exaggerated viewpoints and skewed perspectives at night. I use palette knives in my work, which provide intense color and texture.
