Medium: Drawing, Illustration, Mixed Media, Pen/Ink, Pencil, Photography, and Watercolor
I grew up in a family with an aunt who was a commercial artist and a mother who studied art until my dad swept her off her feet and married her. My sisters and I spent hours drawing pictures. Some of my best drawings were of my sister, Cindy, illustrating how many double chins she had and her horrible facial disfigurements. Cindy gave as good as she got. We all survived childhood.
My favorite medium is watercolor, colored pencil, and ink. I love combining the three, and sometimes add chalk pastels and watercolor pencils. I try to draw things that look real and serious, but the drawings have a mind of their own. That hasn’t stopped my from trying and I hope you will enjoy my pictures as much as I enjoy making them.
I have played with jazz big bands and blues bands in the Bay Area, and local Sacramento/Placer County groups. Love blues, funk, Americana, and honky tonk / rockabilly, gospel. So many bands have come and gone, including Wingnut Adams, Serious Treble, Bart Shea, T & Company, Lincoln Highway, James Israel, Flat Nasty, Slapjack, Moondogs. I recorded with many, including Emily Lord, Freddie Roulette in the Bart Shea Band, Dave Wright & Ron Hull, and can be heard on ‘Brand New Day’ CD by Emily Lord, ‘Guilty Guitarist’ by Steve Clendenin, and “Madman in the Attic’ by Dave Williams. I play piano, organ, and some synthesizer. Equipment includes a Roland Fantom, Hammond SK, Roland amps, Bose tower, Yamaha 4 channel mixer.
