Medium: Acrylic and Watercolor
I am fortunate to have lived in beautiful areas; born in Carmel, California raised in Hawaii and lived in Napa, Pacific Northwest, Tahoe and the Sierra Foothills; each unique however equal in their beauty. My Father was a listed artist in Carmel, hopefully I channel some of his talent. For nearly 45 years I have made my home Auburn; now and then I go somewhere else, but always seem to find my way back. A Home Plate of sorts
Fifteen years ago I decided to become serious about my artwork, ran away and did a stint on a beautiful little island in Washington called Camano. The light and mixture of sea and forest were the inspiration for much of my work during the years I lived there.
Eight years ago I returned to Auburn once again, my home is located near the historic Aeolia Olive Orchard. The late afternoon light brings out many colors and contrasts truly paintable!
I paint in acrylics in an impressionist style and transparent watercolor in a more realistic manner. Landscapes, large format floral paintings and historic buildings all capture my interest. Always trying to capture the element that drew me to the subject. Quite often it is the light and how it moves thru and around the subject. Always experimenting, always learning.
