Outside the Box is an annual fundraiser benefitting PlacerArts. Each piece of art in the Outside the Box show is inspired by a plain wooden box. One hundred participating artists are given two months to create a work of art, with just two rules: the final product must fit through the gallery’s front door, and be able to stand on its own or be hung on the wall. With a different size box each year, the end results range from funky to functional, pretty to poignant, and are a labor of love and innovation.
Each participating artist is represented in the Outside the Box Artist Directory, with an image of their work and an artist statement describing their creative endeavor.
Artists donate significant time and material in their creation process in support of PlacerArts. The boxes are exhibited in The Arts Building Gallery on silent auction which opens during the April 12 Auburn Art Walk.
Sneak Preview – drop by The Arts Building from 4:00 to 6:00pm on Thursday, April 12 for a preview prior to the Auburn Art Walk, and cast your vote for People’s Choice Award.
