What is it?
The Colfax Art Walk is an opportunity for both art enthusiasts and those simply looking for pleasant evening out to wander from venue to venue (merchants and/or eateries), clearly marked by red “Colfax Art Walk” signs, during the reception hours to view the artwork. The artists are on hand to discuss their works. Most venues and artists work together to provide free refreshments as well. It is sure to provide an enjoyable experience for people of all ages and tastes. It is free to the public. Artwork remains in place for approximately two months following each art walk reception and can be viewed at no cost during the normal business hours of each participating venue.
Additionally, it is an excellent program for local businesses and artists to increase public awareness of both the establishment and artistry. Because the coordination is done through a team of dedicated volunteers, the cost to both venue and artist are exceptionally modest.
When and where is it?
The Colfax Art Walk is a free public event that happens every 2nd Friday of the month, May through October, in the historic Main Street District of Colfax. Reception hours are from 3-8 PM. Working in tandem with Placer Arts, downtown Colfax businesses, local and not-so-local artists, and the Colfax Art Walk Committee volunteers create and coordinate this event. Maps are available at each participating venue and the Colfax Area Chamber of Commerce.
Maps are also available online approximately one week prior to each art walk.
What is the purpose of the Colfax Art Walk?
Mission Statement: to cultivate a partnership between Colfax businesses and the art community which promotes established and emerging artists, local commerce, and public access to the arts.

Additionally, both venue and artist pay a $10 participation fee per art walk that they participate in. Businesses may be venues in as many of the Colfax Art Walks as they choose. Artists may only participate in one Colfax Art Walk per season (however, Placer Arts has many other programs that any Placer Arts artist member can submit to participate in. Why not be in all of them?).
