2006 Arties Award WinnersThe Arts Council of Placer County held its annual Arties Awards Recognition Luncheon at the Blue Goose Fruit Shed in Loomis on Sunday, October 15, 2006 This year’s winners are: Arts Administration: Jennifer Keck Arts Education: Craig Stephens Volunteer/Patron of the Arts: The Symphony Goes to School, an Auburn Symphony program Business Support and Partnership to the Arts: NEC Electronics America, Roseville Artistic Excellence: The Pacific Flyway Decoy Association The Phyllis Butz Award: Bill Lipschultz, Auburn-Placer Performing Arts Center Three additional special awards were made: Service Award – Summer Series Committee Special Recognition Award – Sandra Reeves, Editor of Perspectives MVP Award –Sandy Wythawai Starbird, The Arts Building Gallery Manager, artist, greeter and more! The 2006 commemorative Arties Awards are framed original watercolor paintings by Roseville artist Marcia Murray. Marcia is a graduate of San Diego State University, where she majored in art and received her degree in environmental design. She worked in the commercial and medical interior design field for ten years and then raised a family. Later, she enrolled at Sierra College, took a watercolor class and fell in love with the medium. Marcia is known for her lyrical and stylized landscapes as well as still-life of garden-fresh produce. Her works have been showcased in publications including Sacramento Magazine and Sierra Heritage. The Arties Awards are supported in part by the California Arts Council, the County of Placer, Americans for the Arts.
