The Arts Council of Placer County does business as PlacerArts to present quality visual arts exhibits, tours, events and professional performing arts and community theatrical performances that add significantly to the quality of life of residents of Placer County and neaby regions.
The General Gomez Arts and Events Center in downtown Auburn is currently home to the PlacerArts administrative office, five artists-in-residence and a number of public programs. ARTspace Auburn in The Gomez Building hosts classes for adults, teen and children; and the classes. PlacerArts class have now expanded to ARTspace Rocklin to further provide access to the arts in that area of the County.
As one way to showcase artists and musicians from across the County, PlacerArts partners with Auburn businesses in Old Town and Downtown to present the popular Auburn Art Walk four times a year, which has increased local awareness and business support of PlacerArts programs.
The Autumn Art Studios Tour takes place each fall, and features artists throughout Western Placer County. Summer Series at the Auburn Library Garden Theater bring crowds to enjoy family-friendly concerts under the stars. More about PlacerArts’ Programs and Services.
But PlacerArts is much more than a producer of events. PlacerArts plays an often invisible, but vital backstage role as well. We connect with schools, teachers and county education officials to keep arts in the schools; provide technical expertise and inspiration to artists and sister arts organizations; write grant proposals; and meet with community organizations such as Chambers of Commerce and Economic Development offices to develop strategies to keep the county vibrant.
